Family Time

Cultivating Foodies

Our best moments as a family are usually when we are cooking.  This weekend was no exception.  James works a 4 on, 4 off schedule, and this is the first time in many months that he actually had his 4 days off without being called in to solve some major world crisis or another.  So by Sunday he was well rested {maybe too well rested} and squirly.  He convinced me that we should make pasta, and I did gamely decide to join despite the fact that I have been living in barf city for the last few weeks due to some “awesome” morning sickness {thanks kid}.

It is really wonderful spending time with my husband cooking.  It is the love of food that brought us together and when we cook together we get this deep feeling like we are going back to our roots and enjoying our “first love” together…

Good for the Soul

Cultivating Foodies

I am of the opinion that living in the country is good for the soul.  The wide open spaces, the proximity to nature, the smell {although sometimes it smells like horse poop…}

Moments.

Cultivating Foodies

Raising little people is one of the most difficult jobs out there.  I read endless mommy blogs about mothers struggling to handle it, and cheering each other on in the struggle.  And I am glad that there is this community that shows the sides of motherhood that most people hide.  But some days no matter what you read no other person can make you feel like it is all worth it more than that one chubby toddler covered in snot.  Little chef has been growing leaps and bounds lately and with all of the fun milestones he hits, he also finds new ways to get in to trouble and grate my nerves.  Today he walked up to me with his big boy cup and help it out to me and pointed at my cup.  I though “Oh so cute!” so I poured some of my juice in his cup.  He…
